BookTube

Hey there!
It's Bookworm here.  It's been a while.
Anywho, life got overly busy, so Happygrl and I decided to stop blogging, sadly.
However, I have recently started vlogging!  I have a YouTube channel called Daphne's Bookshelves, which you can find here:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFqSaXM9itXLk3jLYb4c8_w
I am enjoying BookTube very much, and I love reviewing books this way!
Come check it out (You may see Happygrl in a guest appearance sometime...)

September/October Updates

Hey you people,
Bookworm here, to announce the new books in the next month,  all of those between now and November, in the month usually known as October...  blah blah blah.  Shush Bookworm.  Yes, I just told myself to shush.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Not at all.

So, the announcements:
  • Ally Carter is currently writing the final Gallagher Girls book, book number 6!
  • Brandon Sanderson is currently writing the second book in the Stormlight Archive series.

Anyway, some books that just came out:
  • TIGER'S DESTINY!!!  Yes, I have read it, and so has Happygrl, but we won't give away an spoilers, don't worry.  But I will say that it had all the twists and surprising turns and enough romance to keep anyone satisfied that the last three did!  This book is the fourth book in the Tiger's Curse series by Colleen Houck. (There will be a review coming soon in the Bookworm's Bookshelf section)
  • Origin, by Jessica Khoury. I found this book on Goodreads, and it looked really good.  It is the first in a series if there is going to be a series that it's in.  It is sci-fi.
  • Sweet Shadows, by Tera Lynn Childs.  In the first book, the book previous to this one, called Sweet Venom, three girls find out that they are all descended from Medusa.  The first is Gretchen, and she had already known that she was descended from Medusa, unlike Greer and Grace.  Grace has just moved into town, and knows nothing, until monsters start finding her.  Greer is in the high of fashion, of the social tower.  She is popular and liked.  But her world is also about to be turned upside down.
  • Can I squeal with excitement now???  Because The Girl of Fire and Thorns' sequel, The Crown of Embers, came out one Tuesday, the 18th!!!  Eeek!   (Yes, I'm quite a bit excited, how could you tell?) These books are by Rae Carson and are fantasy.  In The Girl of Fire and Thorns, Elisa, a princess is forced to marry a king of another land that she has never met at age 16.  When she gets to the palace, she is kidnapped and finds out that things with the ongoing war are not as they seem. But she is also the carrier of the godstone, and she is destined to do a great service.  I need to read it now!!!
  • The Raven Boys, by Maggie Stiefvater.  This is number one in The Raven Boys Cycle.  Maggie Stiefvater also wrote The Shiver Trilogy, which is very good.
  • The Iron Legends by Julie Kagawa.  Apparently, according to Happygrl, it is Summer's Passage, Winter's Crossing, and Iron Legends combined into one book.  They are short stories that go with the Iron Fey series.

In the near future (as in the next month, you know):
  • October 2nd - The Mark of Athena, by Rick Riordan. Are you excited???  Huh? Huh? Huh? (#3, Heroes of Olympus)
  • October 8th - Demon Eyes, by Scott Tracey (#2, Witch Eyes)
  • October 9th - The FitzOsbornes at War, by Michelle Cooper (#3, FitzOsbornes)
  • October 9th - Guardian, by Heather Burch (#2, Haflings)
  • October 23rd - The Crimson Crown, by Cinda Williams Chima (#4, The Seven Realms)
  • October 23rd - Beautiful Redemption, by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl (#4, Beautiful Creatures)
  • October 23rd - The Lost Prince, by Julie Kagawa (#1, sequel series, The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten)
  • October 30th - Ruin, by Orson Scott Card (#2, Pathfinder)
  • October 30th - The Hunters, by John Flanagan (#3, The Brotherband Chronicles)
All righty, that's it!

Oh, am I dying to read these!

Guess what?  Today is a day where there are at four books out!  YAY!!!

So...
  • The Rise of Nine by Pittacus Lore
I know that I am not the only who is waiting for this one.  I remember when the very first book came out, and when the second one did too.  Many of my friends were just as excited as I was.  This is the third  book in the Lorien Legacies series.  The first book is I am Number Four, and has been made into a movie (Which I have not seen yet.  I need to do that.) and the second book is The Power of Six. In I am Number Four, One, Two, and Three are dead.  Four is constantly changing his appearance, changing location, and being chased. I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes action packed sci-fi books.
  • Palace of Stone by Shannon Hale
When I found out that there was going to be a sequel to Princess Academy, I got so excited!  I love that book!  The writing is beautiful, and the main character, Miri, is truly enjoyable to read about.  She is very brave and cares a lot about her friends and family.  In Princess Academy, the choosing for the princess has been picked to happen where Miri lives, high up in the mountains.  All of the girls in her village are moved to be taught how to be princesses, and eventually one of them will be picked by the princess himself. I recommend this book to anyone that likes fantasy.
  • City of Swords by Mary Hoffman
I stumbled upon the first book in this series years ago in a library.   I was judging books by their covers (bad thing to do) but in this case not a bad decision, as City of Masks has a beautiful cover.  City of Masks is the first book. In it, Lucian a boy who is very sick, finds a mysterious object.  He discovers that if he falls asleep while holding it, he will wake up to find himself in old Italy.   The settings in this series are beautiful and described well. I recommend  this book to anyone that likes fantasy and historical fiction.
  • Heaven by Alexandra Adornetto
Well, this is a tricky one, because I haven't read it, Happygrl has, I think.  So I will let her do the posting about this one.  But I do know that it is the third book in the Halo series, after Halo and Hades.

Also, books that I wasn't able to post about at the time that came out on the fourteenth (And both of them happen to be sitting on my bookshelf waiting for me to read them!  YAY!!!):
  • The Demigod Diaries by Rick Riordan
This book is short story book about the characters in the Percy Jackson series and the Hero of Olympus series. (Both of which are very good and recommended!)  I started this book, and already it is hilarious!  Get ready for many, many laughs.
  • The Kill Order by James Dashner
This is the prequel to The Maze Runner series. (The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials, The Death Cure)  This book takes place before everything, right as the Flares from the sun have started to hurt the Earth and its population.  I am really hoping that this helps me to understand everything that happened in The Death Cure, because I still have many questions.

On August 6th, 2012...

... NEVERMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which is why I was too busy to write this post the actual day that Nevermore came out, so sorry that I'm late.  I was reading Nevermore, of course!

So, Nevermore, by James Patterson, came out yesterday.  It is the final book in the Maximum Ride series. (That's number 8, people!) I don't know about you,  but I've been waiting for this one forever!  You can see what I (Bookworm) thought about it by going to my review section.  I will be posting a review for it very soon.

About the rest of the series:

Book 1= The Angel Experiment
Maximum Ride and the Flock (That would be Nudge, Iggy, Gazzy, Angel, and Fang) are all different than the rest of the human population.  They are only 98% human.  And the rest?  BIRD.  Yes, that means wings.  They have escaped from the lab where they are only experiments, and are on the run.  But the evil wolf-human hybrids are constantly after them.

Book 2= School's Out- Forever
Book 3= Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports
Book4= The Final Warning
Book 5= Max
Book 6= Fang
Book 7=Angel
Book 8=Nevermore

I highly recommend this series, it will take you on a wild adventure!
