September/October Updates

Hey you people,
Bookworm here, to announce the new books in the next month,  all of those between now and November, in the month usually known as October...  blah blah blah.  Shush Bookworm.  Yes, I just told myself to shush.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Not at all.

So, the announcements:
  • Ally Carter is currently writing the final Gallagher Girls book, book number 6!
  • Brandon Sanderson is currently writing the second book in the Stormlight Archive series.

Anyway, some books that just came out:
  • TIGER'S DESTINY!!!  Yes, I have read it, and so has Happygrl, but we won't give away an spoilers, don't worry.  But I will say that it had all the twists and surprising turns and enough romance to keep anyone satisfied that the last three did!  This book is the fourth book in the Tiger's Curse series by Colleen Houck. (There will be a review coming soon in the Bookworm's Bookshelf section)
  • Origin, by Jessica Khoury. I found this book on Goodreads, and it looked really good.  It is the first in a series if there is going to be a series that it's in.  It is sci-fi.
  • Sweet Shadows, by Tera Lynn Childs.  In the first book, the book previous to this one, called Sweet Venom, three girls find out that they are all descended from Medusa.  The first is Gretchen, and she had already known that she was descended from Medusa, unlike Greer and Grace.  Grace has just moved into town, and knows nothing, until monsters start finding her.  Greer is in the high of fashion, of the social tower.  She is popular and liked.  But her world is also about to be turned upside down.
  • Can I squeal with excitement now???  Because The Girl of Fire and Thorns' sequel, The Crown of Embers, came out one Tuesday, the 18th!!!  Eeek!   (Yes, I'm quite a bit excited, how could you tell?) These books are by Rae Carson and are fantasy.  In The Girl of Fire and Thorns, Elisa, a princess is forced to marry a king of another land that she has never met at age 16.  When she gets to the palace, she is kidnapped and finds out that things with the ongoing war are not as they seem. But she is also the carrier of the godstone, and she is destined to do a great service.  I need to read it now!!!
  • The Raven Boys, by Maggie Stiefvater.  This is number one in The Raven Boys Cycle.  Maggie Stiefvater also wrote The Shiver Trilogy, which is very good.
  • The Iron Legends by Julie Kagawa.  Apparently, according to Happygrl, it is Summer's Passage, Winter's Crossing, and Iron Legends combined into one book.  They are short stories that go with the Iron Fey series.

In the near future (as in the next month, you know):
  • October 2nd - The Mark of Athena, by Rick Riordan. Are you excited???  Huh? Huh? Huh? (#3, Heroes of Olympus)
  • October 8th - Demon Eyes, by Scott Tracey (#2, Witch Eyes)
  • October 9th - The FitzOsbornes at War, by Michelle Cooper (#3, FitzOsbornes)
  • October 9th - Guardian, by Heather Burch (#2, Haflings)
  • October 23rd - The Crimson Crown, by Cinda Williams Chima (#4, The Seven Realms)
  • October 23rd - Beautiful Redemption, by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl (#4, Beautiful Creatures)
  • October 23rd - The Lost Prince, by Julie Kagawa (#1, sequel series, The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten)
  • October 30th - Ruin, by Orson Scott Card (#2, Pathfinder)
  • October 30th - The Hunters, by John Flanagan (#3, The Brotherband Chronicles)
All righty, that's it!

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Oh, am I dying to read these!

Guess what?  Today is a day where there are at four books out!  YAY!!!

So...
  • The Rise of Nine by Pittacus Lore
I know that I am not the only who is waiting for this one.  I remember when the very first book came out, and when the second one did too.  Many of my friends were just as excited as I was.  This is the third  book in the Lorien Legacies series.  The first book is I am Number Four, and has been made into a movie (Which I have not seen yet.  I need to do that.) and the second book is The Power of Six. In I am Number Four, One, Two, and Three are dead.  Four is constantly changing his appearance, changing location, and being chased. I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes action packed sci-fi books.
  • Palace of Stone by Shannon Hale
When I found out that there was going to be a sequel to Princess Academy, I got so excited!  I love that book!  The writing is beautiful, and the main character, Miri, is truly enjoyable to read about.  She is very brave and cares a lot about her friends and family.  In Princess Academy, the choosing for the princess has been picked to happen where Miri lives, high up in the mountains.  All of the girls in her village are moved to be taught how to be princesses, and eventually one of them will be picked by the princess himself. I recommend this book to anyone that likes fantasy.
  • City of Swords by Mary Hoffman
I stumbled upon the first book in this series years ago in a library.   I was judging books by their covers (bad thing to do) but in this case not a bad decision, as City of Masks has a beautiful cover.  City of Masks is the first book. In it, Lucian a boy who is very sick, finds a mysterious object.  He discovers that if he falls asleep while holding it, he will wake up to find himself in old Italy.   The settings in this series are beautiful and described well. I recommend  this book to anyone that likes fantasy and historical fiction.
  • Heaven by Alexandra Adornetto
Well, this is a tricky one, because I haven't read it, Happygrl has, I think.  So I will let her do the posting about this one.  But I do know that it is the third book in the Halo series, after Halo and Hades.

Also, books that I wasn't able to post about at the time that came out on the fourteenth (And both of them happen to be sitting on my bookshelf waiting for me to read them!  YAY!!!):
  • The Demigod Diaries by Rick Riordan
This book is short story book about the characters in the Percy Jackson series and the Hero of Olympus series. (Both of which are very good and recommended!)  I started this book, and already it is hilarious!  Get ready for many, many laughs.
  • The Kill Order by James Dashner
This is the prequel to The Maze Runner series. (The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials, The Death Cure)  This book takes place before everything, right as the Flares from the sun have started to hurt the Earth and its population.  I am really hoping that this helps me to understand everything that happened in The Death Cure, because I still have many questions.

On August 6th, 2012...

... NEVERMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which is why I was too busy to write this post the actual day that Nevermore came out, so sorry that I'm late.  I was reading Nevermore, of course!

So, Nevermore, by James Patterson, came out yesterday.  It is the final book in the Maximum Ride series. (That's number 8, people!) I don't know about you,  but I've been waiting for this one forever!  You can see what I (Bookworm) thought about it by going to my review section.  I will be posting a review for it very soon.

About the rest of the series:

Book 1= The Angel Experiment
Maximum Ride and the Flock (That would be Nudge, Iggy, Gazzy, Angel, and Fang) are all different than the rest of the human population.  They are only 98% human.  And the rest?  BIRD.  Yes, that means wings.  They have escaped from the lab where they are only experiments, and are on the run.  But the evil wolf-human hybrids are constantly after them.

Book 2= School's Out- Forever
Book 3= Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports
Book4= The Final Warning
Book 5= Max
Book 6= Fang
Book 7=Angel
Book 8=Nevermore

I highly recommend this series, it will take you on a wild adventure!

Second:  Updates.
You can read the first few chapters or so of The Rise of Nine by Pittacus Lore HERE
I read it, and I cannot wait until August 21st!
Also on Pittacus Lore's website is a countdown to The Rise of Nine.  But every once and a while, according to the number of pre-orders, special content/sneak peaks will be released!  HERE.

The sequel to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children will be released sometime in 2012. The first book is fabulous, complete with creepy pictures and everything.  The genre is horror.

Third:  Squeal!  On August 6th, 2012...  the final book... number eight... NEVERMORE, by James Patterson!!!  This is the. end. of  the Maximum Ride series!  And we get to find out what happens to Max and the flock and Fang and the erasers and all of the rest of the world.  So excited!!!

Cover for Clockwork Princess

Hi Peoples!
Bookworm here.
Cassandra Clare, author of The Mortal Instruments series and The Infernal Devices series, has revealed the cover for Clockwork PrincessClockwork Princess will be published on March 19th, 2013.  It is the final book in The Infernal Devices series.  You can see the cover here: Clockwork Princess Cover
It's beautiful!

Also, the first chapter of The Crimson Crown, by Cinda Williams Chima, is out on her website.  You can read it here: First Chapter of The Crimson Crown  The Crimson Crown will be published on October 23rd, 2012.

On July 3rd, 2012, Once, by Anna Carey was released.  Once is the sequel to Eve.  The genre of the series is teen dystopian romance.

So, there are a lot of books coming out in August, as Happygrl mentioned in the last post.
  • 6th - (We've been waiting for this one for a very, very long time, and from the sneak peaks I've read, I think I won't be disappointed with the ending to this series!!!)  NEVERMORE!  By James Patterson.  This is the 8th and FINAL book in the Maximum Ride series.
  • 14th - The Kill Order, by James Dashner.  This is the first book in the prequel series to The Maze Runner series.
  • 14th - The Demigod Diaries, by Rick Riordan.  A collection of short stories and extras set in the Percy Jackson/ Last Olympians worlds.  I'm pretty sure that some of these are going to be hilarious, so I can't wait to read them!
  • 21st - The Rise of Nine, by Pittacus Lore.  This is the third book in The Lorien Legacies series.   The plot will get even more action packed in this one, I think.
  • 21st - Palace of Stone, by Shannon Hale. This is the sequel to Princess Academy. Princess Academy was such a beautiful book, because of the writing, the characters, and the plot.  It was wonderful to read and I don't doubt that this book will be just as amazing.
  • 21st - City of Swords, by Mary Hoffman.  This is the 6th book in the Stravaganza series.
  • 21st - Heaven, by Alexandra Adornetto.  This is the third book in the Halo series.

Ruins

Hi All,
I was searching on Internet, and I found out something that made me very excited.
Last year I kept seeing people reading a huge hardback book with a sword on the cover.  I decided to find out what it was and read it.  I discovered that it was a new book by one of my favorite others, Orson Scott Card.  The book was called Pathfinder.
What I found out today is that there is a second book, coming out on October 30th of this year: Ruins.
I can't wait to read it!

The Enchantress!

Hello!
So, I am really behind on book updates right now, because The Enchantress came out on Tuesday.  Yes, the last and final book in the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flammel series is out!  I have not read it yet, but I am sure that it will be a great conclusion to the series.  This is the sixth book in the series.  The first book is The Alchemyst.   Nicholas Flammel and Perenelle Flammel's tombs are empty, but no one has found them yet.  But then teenagers Sophie and Josh Newman accidentally do.  I  thought that this series was really magical.  The mix of magical creatures, myth, and real life made the story very special.

May Annoucements

Hi!  Bookworm here!
Sorry these are so late, but still, here they are anyway!

First off, March 13th, 2013, which is sooo long from now, is officially the date that Clockwork Princess, the third book in The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare is going to be published!!!  The first book in this series is Clockwork Angel, and the second is Clockwork Prince.   They are about Tessa Gray, who lives in London and has a special power:  she can turn into other people.

On July 24th, 2012, I am Number Four: The Lost Files: The Legacies, is going to be published! It is going to have Six's story, Nine's story, Three's story, Two's story, and One's story included in it!  That means that everything that has been published on ebook will be in print, too.  This book will be extra content for the Lorien Legacie series (I am Number Four, The Power of Six, The Rise of Nine), by Pittacus Lore.  This series is about number Four, also known as John Smith, who is trying to escape the monsters coming after him. Aliens, magic, totally an awesome Scify adventure!!!

And many announcements about books and author Sarah Prineas:
  1. Here's the one I'm really excited about...  Chimney Swifts, the fourth book in the Magic Thief series, will be published in 2014!!!  (Such...a... long... time....)  The first book in this series is called The Magic Thief, the second is Lost, and the third is Found.   The books are from the point of view of Conn, and magic is in almost every single moment of them.  Many things explode, wizards get very frustrated, biscuits are eaten, and you might just find yourself as a black cat.
  2. Summerkin, sequel to Winterling, will be published in May, 2013.  The third book will be published in January, 2014.  In Winterling, Fer gets pulled into adventure in another land with evil and mysterious people.

Then there was City of Ashes.
Next came City of Glass.
After that was City of Fallen Angels.
Today,
CITY OF LOST SOULS ADDS TO THE STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the fifth and second to last book in The Mortal Instruments series, by Cassandra Clare!!!
The series is about Clary Fray, and the Shadowhunters, who protect the earth and everyone who lives on it from demons.
Cassandra Clare also writes The Infernal Devices series. The first book in that series is Clockwork Angel, and the second is Clockwork Prince.  The last  book,Clockwork Princess, will officially be released on March 19th, 2013!!! Cassandra Clare has also announced her next series, which will be a sequel series to The Mortal Instruments series.  It will be called The Dark Artifices, and the first book is scheduled for a 2015 release date.

All of these are teen fantasy.
And yes, I know, just pretend that it is May 8th today, which is the day that I should have published this.

NEW BOOKS NEW BOOKS NEW BOOKS!!!

Hi!
It's May 1st, and you know what that means...  FIVE BOOKS RELEASED TODAY!!!!!!!!!!
  1. INSURGENT, by Veronica Roth
This is the sequel to Divergent, and the second book in the Divergent Trilogy.  In the first book, you are introduced to Tris, who lives in dystopian Chicago. (Wow, it took me two readings of this book just to figure that out!)  The society has been split into five factions: Dauntless, Erudite, Candor, Abnegation, and Amity.  The Dauntless are daring, fearless, and... dauntless.  The Erudite are smart and knowledge hungry.  In Candor, you don't lie.  You are always honest, about everything. The Abnegation are selfless, they think only of others, never of themselves.  And in Amity, everyone is cheerful and kind.  When you are sixteen, as Tris is in Divergent,  you pick which one you live in for the rest of your life.

    2.    SERPENT'S SHADOW, Rick Riordan

The plot will be really rising in this book, (No, I haven't read it yet, I'm just predicting!) as Sadie and Carter Kane battle Apophis.  In this series, The Kane Chronicles, the Egyptian gods and goddesses are key characters.  The first book in this series is The Red Pyramid, and the second is The Throne of Fire.  This is the final book in this series!

    3.   THE FIRE ASCENDING,  by Chris d'Lacey

This is the seventh book in The Last Dragon Chronicles.  The books follow tenant David Rain, and the Pennykettle family.  I won't write a lot about this one, because it is the seventh book in a series, so I don't ruin the first book for future readers.  But the first book, The Fire Within, is about when David first moves into the Pennykettle family's house.  And how he finds their secret... and numerous clay dragons.

    4.    BITTERBLUE, by Kristin Cashore

Well, we really don't know the name of this series, (I believe that in the Coming Soon section it is labeled as "book #3 in the Fire/Graceling companion novel series thingy.")  but the first book is Graceling and the second book is Fire.  Graceling is about Katsa, who has a special power, and therefore a graceling.  Fire is about Fire, who is a monster, and is sort of a prequel to Graceling.  Bitterblue is about Bitterblue, and Katsa is in it too!  The characters in these books: Katsa, Po, Archer, Fire, Bitterblue, Leck, are wonderful characters, and each have their own distict personality, which I love!

     5.   THE INVADERS, by John Flanagan

This is the second book in the Brotherband Chronicles.  John Flanagan, the author, also wrote the Ranger's Apprentice series, which is one of my favorites.  The first book in the Brotherband Chronicles is The Outcasts, and is set in the same world that the Ranger's Apprentice series is, except the main setting is Skandia, not Araluen.  The first book is about eight Skandian boys who are competing in the Brotherband competition, as all boys do at a certain age.  But no one wants them in their Brotherband, so they form their own.

I cannot wait to read these!!!

Prodigy

Marie Lu, author of Legend, which was really good!  And it went by way too fast, I want to read more!  Sorry, got sidetracked there.  Anyway, Marie Lu has announced the title of the next book in the trilogy, which will be Prodigy, and we have to wait a super long time, all the way until January 29th, 2013 for it to come out!
The first book, Legend, is a dystopian book, and it has a really good plot that I can't tell you about.  Except that I can tell you that it was just getting started in the last book.
So excited!

Palace of Stone and Books in May

Hello!  Bookworm here... again!
So I was looking on Shannon Hale's website (Author of The Goose Girl, Enna Burning, River Secrets, Forest Born, Calamity Jack, Rapunzel's Revenge, and Princess Academy.)  today, and I found out something that made me practically squeal with joy.
Let me start with this.  I know that most of you have probably read Princess Academy.  In fact, it was probably one of you who told me to read it.  Thank you for doing that.  I love Shannon Hale's books!
I actually discovered her books when I asked my dad to pick out books for me at the library.  He brought back all of these books, and most of them looked pretty interesting, but The Goose Girl was the one that I started first, and I enjoyed it immensely.  A few years later, I was in the same library again, and I found The Goose Girl for the second time.  I read it again, and then found out that there were three sequels.
Wait, what?  You want to know the news???  Okay, here goes....
Shannon Hale is publishing a SEQUEL to THE PRINCESS ACADEMY!!!   And it comes out on August 21st, of THIS YEAR!!!  I am really looking forward to reading this one.  It is going to be called PALACE OF STONE.
And about books coming out in the near future.... (And when I say near future this time, I actually really mean it!) *= Can put a hold on it! (depending on your library)
  • May 1st: *Bitterblue, by Kristin Cashore (3rd book in the Graceling/Fire series)
  • May 1st: The Fire Ascending, by Chris D'Lacey (7th book in the Last Dragon Chronicles)
  • May 1st:* INSURGENT!!! (Oh yeah!!!  CANNOT WAIT!) By Veronica Roth (2nd book in the Divergent Trilogy)
  • May 1st: *The Serpent's Shadow, by Rick Riordan (3rd book in the Kane Chronicles)
  • May 1st: *The Invaders, by John Flanagan (2nd book in the BrotherBand Chronicles)

  • May 15th: *Code Name Verity, by Elizabeth Wein
  • May 22nd: *The Enchantress, by Michael Scott (6th book in The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flammel series)

HUNGER GAMES MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You saw it, right???  Bookworm here, talking about the Hunger Games movie!!!  I have to say, it was really good!  A bit rushed, but good.  Probably, on a scale of one to ten, I would give it a seven.  Don't get me wrong, the books are still so much better!

It was so exciting!  I even made a  t-shirt before hand and wore it, complete with a Madge quote on the back. (I think that she's my official fourth favorite character in those books, after Prim, Johanna, and Cinna!)
Of course that prompted me to reread the Hunger Games series for the second time.  I read Catching Fire first, and I will probably read The Hunger Games, and then Mockingjay.  Kind of a weird order, 2,1,3.  Oh well, I have read them before and everything, so I get what's happening.

That's all for now,
Bookworm

WELCOME!!!!!! (For the second time!)

Drum roll please...

WELCOME TO THE BLOG!!!!!!!  Officially this time!!!  The blog is open to everybody!
But, if you are trying to find the blog, or trying to help somebody find the blog, because we guess it wouldn't make sense if you're trying to find it because you're reading it already, (Sorry, really long run on sentence there)  type the address in the address box.  Don't try to find it on Google, or Bing, or any other search engine out there, because we've tried, and it doesn't work.

So, about the blog...  this is the place to go for book updates, release dates, and anything else book related revolving around teen fantasy/fantasy in general/ some historical fiction in Bookworm's part of the blog, and some realistic fiction. (ex: The Gallagher Girls series!  Awesome books!)

Please, please, please, comment!!!  Just check the rules section first.

Super excited for this!!!

WELCOME!!!

HI BOOKWORMS!!!

Welcome!  Clearly, you've managed to find this and get on all right, so that's good.
We might be having just a bit of trouble with the blog, because we're really new to this, so bear with us.

Currently, you're on the home page, but there are also tabs to take you to the release dates of books, our separate weekly recommendations, and our combined top tens list of favorite authors.

We will be posting and trying to get it up and running properly, but posts might be under wrong tabs and you might just come across that release date you were trying to find under a recommendations tab or something.

If you feel like commenting, and please do, we will do our best to reply within the week (month-definitiely) and answer all of your questions when we can.

We both hope you enjoy this, and we will have fun too-and possibly learn how to do blogs.

Sincerely,
your book devouring buddies
